[ This is certainly NOT a message that he is expecting to get. Thankfully it appears after G'raha has returned from his little journey back to the star. ]
When I initially had arrived here, we were delving into the secrets of the Twelve. That matter has been wrapped up and all of them, save for one, have returned to the star. Even he is living an entirely mortal life now.
By the time I returned here, we had to deal with another shard transporting itself to a place in Tural. I had merely transported a structure... This time it was an entire section of land.
[ News of the Twelve fills him with an odd sense of...relief? He's unsure how to describe the way his chest constricts briefly. Finally, all of them - bar that last one - have found their rest.
However... ]
I'm sorry, I must be misreading. I could swear you just said that a shard had merged itself with the Source.
[ Please let it not be the one he's thinking of. ]
[ It would appear that all the hopes and dreams of those who had come before have been fully passed onto the current era. Would Emet-Selch be pleased that the Warrior of Light heeded his advice? ]
You did not misread. An entire region of Tural is now bathed in levin. Structures from a place the people called Alexandra can be seen sinking to the ocean and their residence, Everkeep, rivals even the Crystal Tower.
We still do not know from which Shard they hail from. Mayhap you would? Though, given what they have mentioned about the war upon their star leaving it so scarred, coming to the Source seemed to be their only true option.
I daresay it couldn't be stopped either. No one knew that it was happening. From what I've been told, our friend was traveling towards the region when a dome appeared out of nowhere.
The Ninth Shard. It sounds as though the people of Alexandria finally made a breakthrough with their attempt to encroach upon the Source. I suppose they couldn't bear the slow death any longer.
We did, aye, after producing quite the explosion. There was a suffocating amount of levin-aspected aether lingering in the air. Years had gone by in a matter of days. They had also found the means of severing memories from the soul itself.
Was this Shard not ready for a Rejoining? It seemed to be on the brink of collapse, more so than the First.
No. It wasn't due for a while yet. The First was intended to be the next shard rejoined.
We're not idiots, you know. The Source needs to recover between calamities or else there won't be much of a star left. I suppose the mortals there grew impatient for blood and finished the war themselves.
You mean to say that a Shard even in that state is not yet fully prepared for a Rejoining? It seemed as though the Shard had been nearly consumed with levin.
This may come as a surprise, but I don't know everything that happens every minute of every day on every shard, Exarch. I AM just one man and, thanks to your efforts, I am now a dead one. I can only speak about the state I last saw it in.
There should have been two of our raised brethren overseeing that particular shard. Did you not meet them?
Technically speaking, I had very little to do with your death. No doubt that if you hadn't brought such an ultimatum to our mutual friend, it wouldn't needed to have come to that.
I ask only because it seemed to be in a worst state than even the First. Though, perhaps not, as the land seemed to at least be inhabitable to some degree.
We didn't cross paths with any of your brethren. Mayhap they did not cross over or they did not wish to seek any sort of conflict after Fandaniel's meddling.
You summoned help for our dying hero and claim you had no part in my death?
I haven't the faintest idea what happened in my absence then. Time flows oddly between the shards, as you know. I suppose you will meet the pair eventually, if they desire to show themselves in the wake of all that has happened.
Correlation does not imply causation. Besides that, "little to do with" does mean that I played a part in it, but only through calling the Warrior of Light to the First. T'was no fault of mine you thought to have a final battle.
I wonder if they are still with us at all, your wayward companions. One would think that they wouldn't take too kindly to this Shard attaching itself to the Source.
You know very well I had little choice in that moment. You opened the way for the Warrior of Light to call others of their ilk. Or is your memory already failing you after two centuries?
As for my brethren, they knew what would happen with the Rejoining. I imagine they simply fled.
Had that not been after you issued your little challenge? Your ultimatum? Naturally I could not have done much more than that, given my physical state, if you recall.
Fled, you say. Yet a Rejoining did not occur so where would they be?
Hmph. Shirk responsibility all you like, Exarch. A hand offered is a hand no matter whose it is.
My brethren are likely hiding somewhere. Don't ask me - I might have known before the Sundering but they've never been quite right even after we raised them back to their Seats.
I mean that even after restoring their memories, they were never quite the people they once were. I suppose memories of their mortal lives kept interfering. They were more often than not too emotional while carrying out their duties.

The Warrior of Light wasn't enough to halt the merger? Or dare I ask: were they the one to cause it?
